How to Activate Microsoft Office 2024 / 2021

Before You Begin

Make sure you have your product key ready. You received it via email immediately after purchase. The key looks like XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX.

Method 1: Activate via Microsoft Account (Recommended)

1. Go to office.com/setup in your web browser.
2. Sign in with your Microsoft account (or create one if you don't have one).
3. Enter your 25-character product key and click Redeem.
4. Follow the on-screen instructions to download and install Office.
5. Once installed, open any Office app (e.g., Word). It will activate automatically since it's tied to your Microsoft account.

Method 2: Activate During Installation

1. Download the Office installer from your order confirmation email or from office.com/setup.
2. Run the installer and follow the setup wizard.
3. When prompted, enter your product key.
4. Click Activate and wait for the confirmation message.
5. You should see "Product Activated" in any Office app under File → Account.

Verify Your Activation

1. Open Word, Excel, or any Office application.
2. Click File → Account.
3. Under "Product Information", you should see "Product Activated" or "Subscription Product".

Troubleshooting

• "This key has already been used" — Make sure you're signing in with the same Microsoft account you used to redeem the key. Each key can only be bound to one account.
• "Invalid product key" — Double-check the key for typos. Copy-paste from your email to avoid errors. If the issue persists, contact our support team.
• Office asks for activation after reboot — Go to File → Account and click "Activate Product". If you bound the key to your Microsoft account, signing in should restore activation.
